Percentile A Term You Need to Know
A percentile is a measure used in statistics that indicates the value below which a given percentage of observations in a data set falls. For example, the 50th percentile (also known as the median) is the value below which 50% of the observations fall. Percentiles divide a data set into 100 equal parts, and can be used to describe the distribution of a variable, or to compare values within a data set or between multiple data sets.
